Adult Volunteers

3rd Reddish Scout Group needs you!

We always need more adult leaders to work directly with our young people to deliver exciting activities.

The Scouts is made up of volunteers who give freely of their time because they enjoy helping to develop young people in our informal educational context.

With volunteer support, Scouting provides life-changing opportunities and adventure to both young people and adults. It offers a high quality balanced programme of opportunities for young people and award winning training to our adult volunteers.

By choosing Scouting, you will make a real difference to the lives of young people and have a huge impact within our community. You will have the opportunity to try plenty of new things and develop your skills.

Three great reasons to volunteer:
  • You’ll share your skills and experience with young people, while developing yourself
  • You’ll have fun and meet new people in your area
  • You’ll inspire a generation (and they’ll never forget it)
What to expect:
  • A warm welcome
  • Flexibility to get involved in a way that works for you
  • Easy access to training and resources online
  • Plenty of support and a great team
Scouting is made up of many different types of volunteers

From the Princess of Wales or Chief Scout Bear Grylls, to teachers, postal workers, shop assistants, business people – there is no such thing as a typical volunteer. Some are members, some are supporters and others are parents or young people wanting to do something to help achieve the aims of the Movement.

Adults in Scouting support the Movement in the following ways:

  • Working directly with young people as Leaders, Assistant Leaders, Section Assistants and parent helpers
  • Helping with Badges, teaching skills and sharing interests
  • Supporting other adults as a volunteer manager
  • Looking after the administrative side of Scouting as Chairs, Secretaries, Administrators and Treasurers

Volunteering opportunities are flexible

When someone talks to us about volunteering, we find a role that fits with their time and skills. If that means an hour a month, then we’ll work out how we can make the most of that – designed to fit around the time you have available to volunteer.
